Seafair Volunteer Groups

Seafair could not happen without the enthusiasm and hard work of more than 5,000 volunteers, who strive to carry out the Seafair Mission of "connecting and celebrating the community spirit of Greater Seattle." From ticket takers to parade marshals, pirates to princesses, volunteers provide the dedication, energy and enthusiasm that make Seafair a summer sensation year after year. Seafair family groups are longtime festival volunteer organizations that provide logistical planning support, as well as pure fun and entertainment for all!

Seafair Clowns

The Seafair Clowns have long been an integral part of Seafair festivities. In addition to participating in community parades and festivals throughout the Puget Sound area, the Seafair Clowns spend countless hours visiting hospitals and nursing homes during the year in an effort to spread laughter and good cheer. Seafair Commodores

The Seattle Seafair Commodores have served as goodwill ambassadors for the city of Seattle and Seafair since 1955.  The Commodores serve two specific purposes for Seafair: promoting the Seafair Scholarship Program for Women and building relationships with community civic organizations around the Pacific Northwest.  We assist and support the Seafair Scholarship Program for Women by providing escorts for Miss Seafair and her court during parades and special events.  The proceeds from our fundraising activities go to the scholarship program. We represent Seattle by participating in regional festival parades, as well as by hosting these community representatives during our own Seafair Weekend Festival.

Seafair Parade Marshals

Seafair Parade Marshals are in the thick of the action, and you could be there too! Joining the Seafair Parade Marshals allows you to learn what goes on behind the scenes of parades and have a lot of fun at the same time. From putting the units into their proper lineup order to hosting visiting parade participants, Seafair Parade Marshals are involved in giving back to their communities. Seafair Boat Club

The Seafair Boat Club is the Seafair family of more than 2,000 volunteers that supports the water-oriented activities of Seafair. Their responsibilities include the Milk Carton Derby, the Albert Lee Cup at Seafair Hydroplane Race and the Special Peoples' Holiday Cruise in December. Contact the Seafair Boat Club.

Seafair Pirates

The shenanigans of the Seafair Pirates have become synonymous with Seafair revelry since the 1950s. Despite their bad-guy image, the Pirates make dozens of appearances annually to hospitals and nursing homes, and take part in the Pirate Landing on Alki, Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade, Albert Lee Cup, Special People's Holiday Cruise and much, much more.
