The fourth week of Seafair brings lots of exciting events right to your community. Don't miss the Seafair Milk Carton Derby this Saturday July 13 at Green Lake in Seattle for colorful watercrafts made completely out of milk cartons racing across the lake for fantastic prizes!

The 43rd Annual Seafair Milk Carton Derby will take place on Sat., July 13! Nearly 100 colorful milk carton boats of all shapes and design will compete on the waters of Green Lake for fantastic prizes and bragging rights. The Derby is highlighted by a full day of "competition" as children, adults, families and businesses build milk carton watercraft for show and racing.

The West Seattle Hi-Yu Summer Festival is celebrating 79 years this year! Events are held for all ages throughout the month of July, from Seafair Pirates landing on Alki, a concert in the park, to participation in many parades and a scholarship program for women. 

Kent Cornucopia Days - A Seafair Sanctioned Community Event

Kent Cornucopia Days is a community service project produced by the Kent Lions & Foundation, an all-volunteer organization and committee. This is a four-day festival that occurs in July of each year with upwards of 300,000 people in attendance. The festival includes a street fair with hundreds of food, commercial and non-commercial vendors; a community parade; a full size "Funtastic Shows" carnival and midway, continuous entertainment, and numerous educational displays.

Crown of Queen Fun Run/Walk - A Seafair Sanctioned Community Event

5th Ave & W Halladay

The Crown of Queen Anne Fun Run/Walk is a scenic 3.3-mile race on the beautiful neighborhood streets of upper Queen Anne. The race starts at 5th Avenue West and West Halladay. All ages are welcome! Proceeds to go Queen Anne Helpline, an agency helping the elderly, disabled or low income on Queen Anne.

Ballard SeafoodFest - A Seafair Sanctioned Community Event

The Ballard Chamber of Commerce is proud to present the 39th annual Ballard SeafoodFest, a 2 day festival featuring seafood inspired food booths, juried arts and crafts, a mainstage and a separate children’s stage, beer garden and a wine garden.

Mercer Island Summer Celebration! - A Seafair Sanctioned Community Event

Mercerdale Park

Summer Celebration is a family festival located in the heart of Mercer Island. Events include live entertainment on two stages, children’s fun zone, boat rides around the island, Fun Run, fireworks, youth 3-on-3 basketball tournament, car show, food vendors, and arts and craft vendors. Each year is a different theme, 2013 is “It’s Magic" where participants will enjoy special magic shows, street performers, and more.

Pioneer Square Fire Festival - A Seafair Sanctioned Community Event

Occidental Square Park

A family-oriented festival in Occidental Square Park celebrating the re-birth of the Pioneer Square area following the Great Seattle Fire of 1889, featuring antique fire engines, vintage police cars, and panning for gold. The Last Resort Fire Department Museum, Seattle Metropolitan Police Museum, as well as the Klondike Gold Rush National Historical Park-Seattle will be open to visitors. The festival will celebrate the 100th anniversary of the Seattle Fire Department's oldest known and still running, motorized apparatus. Admission is free at all museums and in the park.

McDonald’s presents Seattle Chinatown International District Dragon Fest - A Seafair Sanctioned Community Event

This summer make sure to stop by McDonald's Presents Seattle’s Chinatown-ID Dragon Fest 2013. This two-day family festival features world-class Asian cultural performances, including Lion and Dragon dances, Japanese Taiko Drumming, and much more. For foodies there will be the annual $2 Chinatown-ID Food Walk and happy hour, and a Japanese Beer Garden!

White Center Jubilee Days - A Seafair Sanctioned Community Event

White Center

Jubilee Days is a weeklong festival celebrating the rich diversity of the White Center community. It all starts with the highly anticipated Golf Tournament at 12:30 p.m. on July 13th and Garden Tour on July 14th. July 17 is the start of the five-day carnival and larger than life fireworks show. On July 20 the festival launches into high gear with its two-day street fair featuring a unique variety of craft, farmer and more than 50 international food vendors, a Kids Center and family-oriented entertainment. Indulge in refreshments while enjoying the bands on the main stage, and then groove the night away at the street dance Sat. night. Sun. begins with the annual parade, continues with the second day of the street fair and closes out with headliner music.

Scholarship Program for Women Community Service & Talent Presentation Night
July 10 | 6:30 p.m.
Museum of Flight, William Allen Theater

Participants in the Seafair Foundation Scholarship Program for Women will have the opportunity to explain her community service interest to the judges and audience during their individual presentation. Presentations will be judged on overall impression, poise and presence, content (sense of knowledge about platform), confidence in delivery, speaking ability, vocabulary/grammar, and observance of time limit. Participants will also have a chance to show their creativity, self-expression, confidence and projection through the performance of a talent. Talents can range from dance, vocal, instrumental, monologue, dramatic interpretation, public speaking, or the Seafair Option. Including cultural features in Creative Expression is welcomed and encouraged.

The 2013 Seafair Option is the following prompt: “The year is 2050...the 100th Anniversary of Seafair! You are invited back to participate in this special celebration. Paint us a picture of the Seafair Festival and Seattle less than 40 years from now!”
