CELEBRATE SUMMER Come join the Seafair Clowns, Commodores, Pirates and Parade Marshals as the 2010 Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade takes to the streets to “Celebrate Summer” as only Seattle and Seafair can! There is so much to discover and entertain as parade units converge at the Seattle Center for the kick-off of the 2010 Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade. By 7:30 p.m. you had better have your seat on Fourth Avenue as downtown Seattle welcomes drill teams, floats, and marching bands representing both the United States and Canada! Seafair and Alaska Airlines are pleased to honor Winter Olympic medal winner and Northwest native, Apolo Anton Ohno as the 2010 Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade Grand Marshal. Apolo Ohno is the most decorated United States Winter Olympic athlete having captured eight Olympic Medals (two gold, two silver, four bronze). Ohno, 28, was born and raised in Federal Way, Washington and was previously the Grand Marshal of the Torchlight Parade in 2002.
The Puget Sound area’s largest summertime march is named after the region’s hometown airline. Alaska Airlines and Horizon Air together serve more than 90 cities through an expansive network in Alaska, the Lower 48, Hawaii, Canada and Mexico.
If you can’t make it downtown, then your living room sofa becomes your front row seat as KIRO-TV begins its live broadcast at 6:30 p.m. with the MICHELOB ULTRA Torchlight Run followed by the Scholarship Program for Women coronation of the 61st Miss Seafair.
