BECU Ambassador Program
2009 Ambassadors, Get Ready!
Earn a trip to Kobe, Japan...college scholarship money and much more!
Seafair and BECU are excited to announce the 2009 Seafair BECU Ambassador Program is just months away and we can't wait to see the talent and leadership this year's Ambassadors will bring to our community.
2009 BECU Ambassador hopefuls start the selection process by attending the Youth Leadership Symposium on Friday, February 27 at Qwest Field where they hear from a variety of inspirational speakers.
Following the Symposium, participating students are asked to produce a synthesis statement using their media vehicle of choice (essay, video, power point...) and twelve finalists are selected for interviews with the Seafair Board of Directors. The six Seafair Ambassadors will represent the festival on a once-in-a-lifetime trip to Kobe, Japan where they will learn about international relations while interacting with community and business leaders, government officials and students. The students will also represent Seafair during the 2009 Seafair Festival.
Symposium Keynote Speakers!
Speakers will be announced in January 2009

Hear from the 2007 Ambassadors
"Being a Seafair Ambassador has provided me with the opportunity to meet a wide range of people while representing where I have come from. In interacting with new friends from different sides of the globe, we, as Seafair Ambassadors, have created international ties of friendship and through this, embraced perhaps the true meaning of being an American." - Doris Zhao, Newport High School
"As an Ambassador I was thrilled to be a part of Seafair. It was so much fun to be able to participate in the Torchlight Parade and to see the Blue Angels. The Ambassadorship also enabled me to go to Japan this November. No words can explain this once-in-a-lifetime opportunity. I am thrilled to see the upcoming Symposium and the speakers that will be attending. This program has broadened my horizons not only with in my own community, but globally as well." - Elizabeth Pierini, Auburn High School
"The Seafair Ambassador Program gave me a unique view of another city, and a different perspective from which to view my own. I made friendships that I plan to keep for years to come, and memories I'll always treasure... it was so much more than just a trip for me." - Annelise Oggard, Seattle Prep High School
