 SEAFAIR ANNOUNCES GRAND MARSHAL FOR ALASKA AIRLINES TORCHLIGHT PARADE
Apolo Anton Ohno Headlines 61st Torchlight Parade!

Seafair and Alaska Airlines are pleased to honor Winter Olympic medal winner and Northwest native, Apolo Anton Ohno as the 2010 Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade Grand Marshal. The 2010 parade festivities are set to march down Fourth Avenue July 31, 7:30 p.m. and will air live on KIRO TV.

“Apolo brings the perfect combination of celebrity, athletic greatness, and hometown stature to serve as an ideal Grand Marshal of the Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade,” says Seafair President & CEO Beth Knox. “What a thrill to honor him in this way.”

Apolo Ohno is the most decorated United States Winter Olympic athlete having captured eight Olympic Medals (two gold, two silver, four bronze). Ohno, 28, was born and raised in Federal Way, Washington and was previously the Grand Marshal of the Torchlight Parade in 2002.

“I am honored to serve as Grand Marshall of Seattle’s favorite summertime festival, Seafair,” said Ohno, the most decorated U.S. Winter Olympian. “I have always felt that Seafair is a great way to showcase our wonderful community and I’m excited to have the opportunity to come home and thank the entire Northwest for their support throughout my career.”

About the Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade
The Alaska Airlines Torchlight Parade is the largest nighttime parade in the Northwest and a highly anticipated event for thousands of people lining the parade route year-after-year. Precision drill teams, community floats, regional and international bands, equestrian units, giant helium balloons, comical clowns and swashbuckling pirates all come together for one magical night in downtown Seattle to celebrate true family and community entertainment.
