Everybody loves a Parade - a
nd none is more magical, musical and thrilling than Torchlight Night. 
This magnificent parade will include giant helium balloons, precision drill teams representing local communities, equestrian units, comical clowns, swashbuckling pirates and heart-pounding bands playing all your favorite tunes. 

Now in its 65th year the Torchlight Parade offers something for everyone. Young and old will make their way to downtown Seattle early Saturday morning and stake a curbside seat along the two-and-a-half mile route hours before the 7:30 p.m. start.  
Many people attend the parade to cheer on family members and friends. Still others attend the Torchlight Parade because it represents a civic celebration rich in tradition, one that instills a feeling of excitement with every drum beat. For one magical night, the city comes together in the heart of downtown to celebrate a variety of entertainment that makes the Alaska Airlines Seafair Torchlight Parade a truly special evening.

Seattle Sounders FC Players Clint Dempsey & DeAndre Yedlin

Star players for Seattle Sounds FC and members of the 2014 U.S. Men’s National Team, forward Clint Dempsey and defender DeAndre Yedlin, have been named Co-Grand Marshals for the 2014 Alaska Airlines Seafair Torchlight Parade.

About Clint Dempsey
Selected eighth overall inthe 2004 MLS SuperDraft by the New England Revolution, Clint Dempsey became animmediate impact player winning the 2004 MLS Rookie of the Year and helping histeam reach the MLS Cup Final in 2005 and 2006 while being named to the MLS BestXI in both 2005 and 2006. In 2006, Clint made the move overseas to Englishclub, Fulham. While with the club until 2012, Clint helped lead Fulham to theirbest finish ever in the English Premier League, during the 2008-2009 season,while setting the record for most goals scored by an American in the EPL. InAugust, 2012, Clint was moved to Tottenham Hotspur when he played until signingwith Seattle Sounders F.C. in August, 2013. Clint made 213 appearances forFulham and Tottenham, totaling 57 goals while being named the U.S. Soccer Athlete of the Year in 2007, 2011, and 2012. Clint Dempsey currently stars andis a Designated Player for the Seattle Sounders F.C.

Clint Dempsey additionally has a successful international career. Representing the U.S. Clint first appeared in a game for the U.S. Men’s National Team in 2004,during a World Cup qualifying semifinal. He helped the U.S. reach the 2006,2010, and recent 2014 FIFA World Cups, holding the title as Team Captain in the2014 World Cup in Brazil. Clint has appeared in 109 matches for the U.S., scoring 39 goals overall.

About DeAndre Yedlin
DeAndre Yedlin has become a local hero, globally recognized and coveted just in recent weeks. Growing up inthe Seattle area, DeAndre attended O’Dea High School, attended and started for the Sounders FC Academy team and was invited to the U.S. Soccer U-18 Men's National Training Camp and the 2010 SuperElite International Showcase. DeAndre received national recognition for his play and was one of the top college players in the nation while playing at Akron, earning All-MAC First Team honors in 2011 and 2012.

In 2013, DeAndre signed with the Seattle Sounders FC, becoming the first Homegrown Player inclub history. Quickly becoming a starting defender at right back, and leadingthe team in minutes, DeAndre became a finalist for MLS Rookie of the Year andthe youngest player to record a goal and assist for Sounders FC. Yedlin wasalso named a 2013 MLS All-Star, the first rookie to be named an All-Star since 2005.

Internationally, DeAndre made his first appearance for the U.S. Men’s National Team in February 2014. He was then added to the 2014 FIFA World Cup roster. He made his WorldCup debut as a substitution against Portugal and immediately made an impact;helping fellow Grand Marshal and Sounders FC player Clint Dempsey score the team’s second goal late in the game. DeAndre celebrated his 21st birthday on July 9th, and will be a staple of U.S. soccer for years to come.

Parade TV Coverage
KIRO 7 is the place to be for live coverage of the 65th Annual Seafair Torchlight Parade! Join KIRO 7 

Eyewitness News anchors Steve Raible and Angela Russell, as they host the live broadcast, in High Definition over the air, or on Comcast 107. Live coverage begins at 7 p.m. with the pre-parade show and then the parade. If you’re not at a TV, no problem, KIRO 7 has you covered on, with live streaming video of the parade. In addition, the KIRO 7 Eyewitness News Morning Team will be in the parade riding a vintage hydroplane.

Seattle Center Seafair Torchlight FanFest 
Visit Seattle Center for this pre-parade party featuring exhibits, float viewing, meet & greets of parade participants and more! This event will take place from 12 p.m.- 6 p.m.

There is no easier way to get downtown on Torchlight Night than riding the bus. Metro will provide extra service from various King County Park & Ride locations between 2 p.m. and 7 p.m. as well as extra service for the return trip following the parade.
